Lourdes is a conscientious filmmaker who uses her talents to capture a diversity of perspectives, analyze social norms, and show the interconnection of our humanity to create positive social change. She received an Associates Degree from Phoenix College in Honors Classical Studies. She then transferred to the University of California Santa Cruz where she graduated with a degree in Film and Digital Media.
After graduation she felt a need to return to her home state Arizona. She became heavily involved with nonprofits, politics and the community. She worked on several political campaigns, volunteered with many nonprofits and hosted a TV show to create awareness and civic engagement on social issues. However, she was not fully satisfied with the quality, standards and connection that our community had.
She then decided to move to Mumbai, India to work with a production company as a concept developer for documentaries and to self reflect on her life and her true desires, professionally and personally. It is through this self reflection that she came to realize that effective communication and constructive information are the best platforms for our humanity to achieve its highest form of consciousness. This philosophy led her to start three ventures with her husband, The Immigration Paradox (documentary), Embracing Humanity (nonprofit), and Deep Focus Cinema (production company).
Born in Mexico City to two doctors and raised in the United States, by a single mother, as a low income immigrant has allowed her to experience the best and worst of both worlds. She is grateful for this experience because it enables her to deeply analyze collective and individualistic cultures as well as different socioeconomic classes. This understanding allows her to navigate freely through different world-views giving her a broader picture of reality and our interconnectedness.
She tries to keep a balanced life by nourishing herself spiritually, mentally, and physically. Through her spirituality Lourdes is able to open up her imagination and create the world she would like to see, a world that embraces humanity to elevate us to new dimensions.
